I was recently referred to by a past colleague of mine to someone who was looking to have some Php work done. They had been hosting websites that made use of Cold Fusion on a Windows box. The trouble was, they were paying a pretty high amount to lease the box. They realized that in order to cut costs, switching to a Linux environment and relying on Php would be one of their better options. That's when I got involved.
I had never worked with Cold Fusion before myself so it was a bit interesting to find that it's an Adobe language. The conversion overall went quite well and wasn't too complex. I found that Php had comparable functions to Cold Fusion and thus the conversion process wasn't too bad at all.
The project has been completed as of this date and everything appears to be running smoothly.
In the end, I'm happy I could help with this transition process in order to save the client some money. After all, I believe that's one of the purposes of technology - to improve processes, services, and in general, life itself.
If you're looking for ways to cut costs with technology, or as in this case to cut technology costs themselves, contact us. We'd love to provide you with some ideas that can cut costs so you can better invest your money elsewhere.
